freddie, a white trans masculine person, sitting in a bath. we can see them from the waist up. their brown hair is wet and they have some kind of blue foam coming out of their mouth. the lighting is pink & it tints their skin and the background

I’m a live artist working with performance, sound & video.

my performances are both visceral & theatrical. I work with image, movement, texture, vibration, speed/slowness - to create layers of meaning. ritual and personal-material practices are informed by research and collaboration.

My current research is in somatics, touch & sensation.

an image of freddie in the bath - we can see their back, on the screen behind is a huge projected image of their lips, which are pink. their mouth on the screen is open. the shadow of a plant hangs over it.

Positionality: I’m white British, trans masculine & neurodivergent.

Lineage: my work came from drag and queer live art. The cabaret and performance communities in the UK are where my work was shaped.

I have been influenced by philosophies of embodiment, for instance Feminist body-scholarship from live artists in the 1970s and contemporary Black trauma-informed somatics. Artists & theorists who erode the boundaries between ‘human’ & ‘nature’ have been important to me, and I continue to seek community where I can question my own relation to land and plant life in particular. I have a criticality around Capitalist dis/embodiment and neuro-normativity, informed by Disability Justice. My recent work draws from queer kink/BDSM methodologies.

I’m a resident of Pervasive Media Studio & an Associate of Interval Artist Collective, Bristol.

a black & white portrait of freddie, a white trans masc slim person. they are in a library, crouching on the floor, rolling up a scroll of paper after a workshop. they wear glasses & black clothes & are smiling at the photographer.
